PhD position for the NWO project:
Solving Quadratic Assignment Problems with Algebraic Symmetry via Semidefinite Programming

Project description:
The quadratic assignment problem (QAP) is well known in operations research (mathematical programming) and arises from applications as diverse as electronic circuit testing and hospital facility location. It is also famously hard to solve QAP instances, even ones of moderate size. In this project we will revisit the possibility of solving QAP problems using semidefinite programming in a branch and bound setting. In particular, we will use modern techniques from algebraic combinatorics to exploit algebraic structures in the data where present.

Job requirements/Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

* holds a Master, or equivalent degree in (applied) mathematics, operations research, or computer science, and has some background in mathematical programming
* has an interest and skills in computer programming (in MATLAB, C++)
* is ambitious, self-motivated, and cooperative
* is able to communicate in English
* is able to function in a research group and willing to assist in the organization of research meetings, symposia,etcetera.

Terms of employment:
According to the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Dutch Universities, a PhD candidate (promovendus) receives a starting salary of € 2.042.– gross per month in the first year. The university offers very good fringe benefits (it is one of the best non-profit employers in the Netherlands), such as an options model for terms and conditions of employment and excellent reimbursement of moving expenses. The position can be either for a duration of three or four years, depending on the qualifications and wishes of the candidate. * Mahasiswa wajib melaksanakan magang kerja di instalasi milik PT PLN (Persero) maksimal selama 6 bulan dengan memperoleh uang saku Rp.850.000,- per bulan.

SYARAT PENDAFTARAN

a. Mendaftar
Pendaftaran dilakukan secara OnLine dengan persyaratan sebagai berikut :
Lulusan SMA/MA jurusan IPA, SMK jurusan mesin/listrik tahun kelahiran 1990 atau sesudahnya.

b. Setelah Lulus Tes Akademik
Setelah dinyatakan lulus tes akademik, peserta harus melengkapi persyaratan untuk mengikuti tes berikutnya seperti berikut :


1. Copy ijasah SMA/SMK/MA dan nilai UN yang dilegalisir.
2. Copy akte kelahiran yang dilegalisir.
3. Surat keterangan sehat dan tidak buta warna dari dokter.
4. Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian (SKCK) dan Surat Keterangan Bebas Narkoba dari Kepolisian.


PROSEDUR PENDAFTARAN


* Menyiapkan pasfoto digital (nama file disamanakan dengan nama depan peserta) berwarna terbaru berukuran 4×6 cm (memakai pakaian yang sopan dan rapi) dalam format JPG atau PNG dengan ukuran maksimum 100 KB.
* Mendaftar melalui website www.politek-malang.ac.id atau www.pln-jatim.co.id untuk mendapatkan nomor pendaftaran (Mulai 3 Mei 2010)

Scholarship from American Indonesian Exchange Foundation


Applicants must be English language teachers or currently in training to become the English language teacher and must be able to demonstrate a commitment to language teaching upon return to Indonesia following the award. The program is for one academic year (9 months) and requires the grantee to teach Indonesian language and culture in the U.S. for 20 hours per week and to Enroll in at least two U.S. Studies and / or ESL methodology classes per semester under a full tuition waiver.


Applicants who are no older than 29 years of age by October 1, 2009 and will possess:

  • a Bachelor’s (S1) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (scale 4.00)

  • leadership qualities

  • a good understanding of Indonesian and international cultures

  • a demonstrated commitment to the chosen field of study

  • a willingness to return to their home institution upon completion of the Fulbright program

  • a minimum institutional TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS 6.0.

The goal of the program is to promote excellence in research in these Centers to support the Ministry of National Education in its mission to improve the quality of higher education and research in the country.

Applicants must meet the following general criteria to be eligible for a scholarship:

1. Be a national and resident of Indonesia

* Menyiapkan spesifikasi teknis barang dan mengevaluasi penawaran serta memberikan evaluasi & rekomendasi secara teknikal.
* Membuat dan menyiapkan review Post Mortem & Well, monitoring biaya dan AFE closing.

Dalhousie University is searching for Postdoctoral Fellows and/or Research Associates to join the Global Ocean-Atmosphere Prediction and Predictability (GOAPP) network funded by the Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences. Two positions are available. The successful candidates will collaborate with researchers at Dalhousie University and other universities in the network, and with scientists from Environment Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada. They will have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Physical Oceanography or a related discipline. They will also have experience in running and developing state-of-the-art ocean and/or atmosphere models or expertise in data analysis required for model-data intercomparisons. Knowledge of data assimilation is desirable.

GOAPP’s overall goal is to improve forecasts of the ocean and atmosphere on time-scales of days to decades, and space scales of tens of km (e.g., ocean eddies) to global. The successful applicants will focus on time-scales of days to seasons. The research involves the assimilation of a wide range of data types, including relatively new data streams such as temperature and salinity profiles from Argo floats, into ocean and coupled models using novel assimilation schemes.

Specific research activities include: enhancing ocean and coupled atmosphere-ocean modeling and data assimilation capabilities; identifying the sources of, and limits to, predictability in the ocean and coupled system; and undertaking and physically interpreting decadal scale reanalyses.

Appointments will begin as soon as possible after March 1, 2010 and will continue until at least March 31, 2011. The annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however in accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority. 4. TATA CARA MELAMAR
1. Lamaran hanya dapat dikirimkan melalui aplikasi on-line (klik link registrasi on-line di bagian bawah spesifikasi jabatan). T idak ada jalur lain yang digunakan untuk pengiriman lamaran.
2. Pelamar wajib memiliki alamat e-mail pribadi yang masih aktif untuk dapat mengikuti proses seleksi ini. Kami tidak melayani alamat e-mail yang salah input oleh pelamar. Pelamar dilarang menggunakan alamat e-mail kantor atau orang lain untuk proses pendaftaran ini.
3. Setelah mengisi formulir aplikasi dan mengirimkannya kembali secara on-line, pelamar akan mendapat konfirmasi registrasi. Konfirmasi tersebut berisi nomor registrasi yang akan digunakan selama proses seleksi. Anda tidak dapat menerima e-mail registrasi apabila alamat e-mail yang anda input salah dan atau sudah tidak aktif, sehingga anda tidak bisa log-in untuk pengumuman selanjutnya.
4. Pastikan Anda telah memilih Posisi Jabatan yang sesuai, serta menuliskan semua data dengan benar, sebelum menekan tombol KIRIM.
5. Pelamar wajib mengisi aplikasi dengan data/informasi yang sebenar-benarnya karena data ini akan diklarifikasi dengan benar saat pelaksanaan verifikasi dokumen/informasi.
6. Sediakan waktu yang cukup. Pengisian Aplikasi online ini secara lengkap membutuhkan waktu sekitar 30 - 60 menit.

Scholarship from MASDAR Abu Dhabi

MASDAR Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi is pleased to announce full scholarships to highly qualified graduate students from around the world for its Fall 2010 intake.

MASDAR Institute is the centerpiece of the MASDAR Initiative, a landmark program by the government of Abu Dhabi to establish an entirely new economic sector dedicated to alternative and sustainable energy. The MASDAR Institute is a private, not-for-profit, independent, research-driven institute developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). MIT provides assistance in recruitment of faculty members and senior administrative staff and the provision of course curriculum, amongst other matters. The Institute is located inside the world’s first carbon neutral, zero waste Masdar City, which will be powered solely by alternative energy, mainly solar energy. 7. Bersedia berangkat menuju tempat penempatan On The Job Training dengan biaya sendiri;

8. Tes kesehatan dilaksanakan oleh RS/Klinik yang ditunjuk oleh Perum Pegadaian dan pelaksanaannya pada Tanggal 17 – 19 Mei 2010;
9. Pengumuman peserta lulus tes kesehatan Tanggal 26 Mei 2010;
10. Peserta lulus tes kesehatan selanjutnya mengikuti Tahapan On The Job Training (OJT) yang meliputi Induksi, Diklat Penaksir Muda dan Praktik Kerja di Kantor Cabang;
11. Induksi dilaksanakan Tanggal 31 Mei – 4 Juni 2010;
12. Praktik Kerja di Kantor Cabang dilaksanakan 7 Juni – 31 Juli 2010;
13. Diklat Penaksir Muda direncanakan dilaksanakan di tengah masa Praktik Kerja, yaitu diperkirakan mulai 8 Juni 2010 sampai selesai (5 minggu);
14. Peserta yang lulus On The Job Training diangkat sebagai Pegawai Tetap terhitung mulai tanggal 1 Agustus 2010.



* Seleksi dilaksanakan di 4 kota, yaitu Manado, Gorontalo, Jayapura dan Makassar.

Alamat tujuan lamaran disesuaikan dengan provinsi tempat tinggal dan domisili peserta (Peserta/pelamar wajib mencantumkan nama Kota madya/Kabupaten asal domisili peserta pada sudut kanan atas amplop lamaran);
* Keputusan kelulusan bersifat final dan mutlak tidak dapat diganggu gugat, serta tidak diadakan surat menyurat;
* Peserta yang dinyatakan lulus sebagai Pegawai Tetap wajib menandatangani perjanjian ikatan dinas.
